Half a Mountain of Lard 2008
City Gallery
Leicester
'Half A Mountain of Lard' was an exhibition in The City Gallery, Leicester
in Conjunction with Ayling & Conroy's solo show. It sought to, cooperate
with the large Education space in the gallery, situated before the main
exhibition space. Ayling & Conroy’s curatorial strategy, is
developed through the needs and wants of audiences and participants. 'Half
a Mountain of Lard' was an attempt to engage with the families and children
who visit the exhibition space and participate in the summer workshop
programme, and actively involved children as audiences, and as artists. The
artwork of twenty five young artists was curated from open submissions,
themed on the surreal and bizarre. ‘Half a Mountain of Lard’
aimed to directly link the exhibition programme and education programmes
together.
